Reversible Glass 1935 Cracker Butterfly Necklace

Hamadryas feronia or commonly known as The Cracker butterfly wing fragment from 1935 set in a 23mm x 23mm Stainless Steel glass pendant.

A few interesting facts:

These butterflies are known as Crackers due to the ability of the males of several species to produce a sound similar to the crackling of bacon in a frying pan. Only males can produce the sound, but both males & females can detect it. All Hamadryas species have a beautiful calico pattern which acts as an extremely effective camouflage against the bark of trees.
