‘False Tiger Moth’ Sterling Silver Necklace

Dysphania militaris or commonly known as The False Tiger Moth wing fragment embedded in a Sterling Silver frame, on a Sterling Silver chain.

A few interesting facts:

The False Tiger Moth uses their bold wing patterns & colours to mimic the toxic Tiger Moth. This deters predators from eating them, however they do not actually produce defensive toxins. Unlike most moths that are nocturnal, the False Tiger Moth is a day-flying moth & is often mistaken for a butterfly! As caterpillars they use a technique called twig mimicry where they hold a static pose to look like plant stems to trick predators.
