A few interesting facts:

•Only the males have the bright orange wing tips; females are white with dark grey or black wing tips.
•Females are very careful to lay only one egg per plant because the caterpillars are cannibalistic and will eat neighbouring eggs or smaller siblings to reduce competition for food.
•They spend roughly 8 to 9 months of the year as a boomerang-shaped chrysalis (pupa) attached to plant stems or twigs before emerging in early spring.
•Their appearance changes dramatically based on when they hatch. Dry-season males display a vibrant, deep sulphur-yellow upperside with distinct triangular orange patches. In the rainy season, the black borders expand drastically across both wings, darkening their overall look.
